Mat cutting machine for beach mats: heat cutting, edge sewing and baling
How woven plastic beach mats are finished: XY-QDJ heat cutting, GC3720 edge sewing and a hydraulic baling press, with the catalogue figures.
A mat cutting machine turns the continuous roll that leaves a beach mat loom into individual mats of the length each order needs. In a plastic beach mat line it is the first of three finishing machines: the roll is cut to length with a heated cutter, the cut edges are sewn so the selvage does not come loose, and the finished mats are pressed into solid bundles on a baling press. The XY-QDJ heat cutting machine from Wenzhou Xiangyi Machinery handles cutting widths from 2000 to 3000 mm with 6 kW of heating power, the GC3720 double-needle edge sewing machine finishes the edges, and a hydraulic baling press closes the line. This guide walks through the three steps and gives the catalogue figures for each machine.
Key definitions
- Roll. A woven beach mat leaves the jacquard loom as one long, continuous roll of mat at the loom's weaving width.
- Heat cutting. Cutting the woven PP mat with an electrically heated cutter rather than a cold blade. The XY-QDJ is a heat cutting machine of this type.
- Selvage. The edge of the woven mat. Once a roll is cut into pieces, the cut edges have to be secured so the mat does not come loose.
- Edge sewing. Stitching along the mat edge. The GC3720 does it with two needles on a flat bed.
- Baling. Compressing finished mats into solid bundles in a hydraulic press, the last step before the mats leave the factory.
Step 1: heat cutting to length
The XY-QDJ cuts the woven roll into pieces of the length the customer orders, using an electrically heated cutter. Its figures, copied from our catalogue:
| Parameter | XY-QDJ |
|---|---|
| Cutting width | 2000–3000 mm |
| Heating power | 6 kW |
| Weight | 500 kg |
| Installed size (L × W × H) | 4000 × (2200–3200) × 1000 mm |
Cutting is where the order's mat length is set. Because the roll arrives at the loom's full weaving width, give us your loom widths when you plan the cutting station: the catalogue lists the XY-QDJ's cutting width as 2000 to 3000 mm.
Step 2: sewing the edges
Once the mat is cut, its edges are sewn so the selvage does not come loose. The GC3720 is a computer direct-drive, double-needle flat sewing machine; we supply it as part of a complete beach mat line.
| Parameter | GC3720 |
|---|---|
| Voltage | 220 V |
| Frequency | 50–60 Hz |
| Motor speed | 200–650 rpm |
| Motor torque | up to 2.2 N·m |
The motor runs between 200 and 650 rpm on a 220 V supply at 50 to 60 Hz, so check that the factory can provide 220 V at the sewing station.
Step 3: baling for shipping
The hydraulic baling press is the last machine in the line: finished, edge-sewn mats go into the press and are compressed into solid bundles. We supply the press with the line rather than build it, and the catalogue gives no technical parameters for it, so ask us for the current specification when you plan the finishing area.
The finishing section at a glance
| Step | Machine | What it does | Key figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | XY-QDJ heat cutting machine | Cuts the woven roll to the ordered length | 2000–3000 mm cutting width, 6 kW heating |
| 2 | GC3720 edge sewing machine | Sews the cut edges so they do not come loose | 220 V, 200–650 rpm |
| 3 | Hydraulic baling press | Presses finished mats into solid bundles | Specification on request |
How to plan the finishing area
- Start from the looms. The rolls arrive at the looms' weaving widths (900 to 3000 mm across the XY-KTC range), so list the loom models first.
- Place the cutter next to the looms. Rolls go straight from the loom to the XY-QDJ; leave room for its installed length of about 4000 mm.
- Size the sewing station by output. Edge sewing is done mat by mat, so plan the number of sewing positions for the number of mats you cut per shift, and provide 220 V power.
- Finish with baling. Leave space for the press and for the bundles it produces, close to where mats are loaded for shipping.
- Confirm the whole section with us. Send the loom widths, mat sizes and daily output, and we will confirm the cutting, sewing and baling set-up.
Where finishing sits in the line
Cutting, sewing and baling are steps four to six of the six steps in a plastic beach mat production line. Each machine has its own page with the full figures: the mat cutting machine, the double-needle sewing machine and the hydraulic baling press. Frequently asked questions
- How is a woven beach mat cut to size?
- The mat comes off the loom as a continuous roll. The XY-QDJ cutting machine cuts it into pieces of the ordered length with an electrically heated cutter. Its catalogue figures are a cutting width of 2000 to 3000 mm, 6 kW of heating power and a weight of 500 kg.
- Why are the edges of a beach mat sewn?
- After cutting, the edges are sewn so the selvage does not come loose. In our line this is done on the GC3720, a computer direct-drive double-needle flat sewing machine running on 220 V at 50 to 60 Hz.
- What does the baling press do?
- It is the last machine in the line: finished, edge-sewn mats go into the hydraulic press and are compressed into solid bundles. We supply the press as part of a complete line; ask us for its current specification.
- Does Wenzhou Xiangyi Machinery make the sewing machine and the baling press?
- We make the straw extruder, warping machine, jacquard loom, mat cutting machine and monofilament extruder. The GC3720 sewing machine and the hydraulic baling press are supplied with the line so that the whole finishing section comes from one supplier.
