Baling press The six steps
Steps 1 and 2 run side by side: both feed the loom.
-
Step 1
Extrude the straws
PP raw material is heated until molten and drawn into hollow plastic straws. These become the weft of the mat.
-
Step 2
Prepare the warp
Warp yarn is wound evenly onto a beam for the loom. The yarn can be HDPE or PP monofilament from an SJ-YS line.
-
Step 3
Weave the pattern
The jacquard loom weaves the straws into the warp. The computerized jacquard lifts the warp ends to the design, loaded from a USB stick.
-
Step 4
Cut to length
The woven roll is cut into mats of the ordered length with an electrically heated cutter.
-
Step 5
Sew the edges
The edges of each mat are sewn so the selvage does not come loose.
-
Step 6
Bale for shipping
Finished mats are pressed into solid bundles in a hydraulic baling press.
Planning a line
Send us these details and we will put together the machine list for your line:
- The width, or widths, of mat you want to sell
- How many mats per day or month you plan to make
- Whether you will buy warp yarn or make it yourself
- The voltage and power available at your factory
Questions buyers ask
What machines do I need to make plastic beach mats?
A complete line has six steps: a plastic straw extruder (LG series) makes hollow PP straws, a warping machine (ZJ-2000) winds the warp yarn onto a beam, a computerized jacquard weaving machine (XY-KTC) weaves the mat, a heat cutting machine (XY-QDJ) cuts it to length, a double-needle sewing machine (GC3720) sews the edges and a hydraulic baling press bundles the finished mats. A monofilament extruder (SJ-YS) can also make the warp yarn.
What raw material is used?
The straws are extruded from polypropylene (PP). The warp yarn can be bought in, or made from HDPE or PP on our SJ-YS monofilament line.
How wide a mat can the loom weave?
The XY-KTC series has eight models, with a maximum weaving width of 900, 1200, 1500, 1800, 2000, 2200, 2700 or 3000 mm.
How are mat patterns changed?
The loom has a computerized jacquard. Designs are loaded from a USB stick and selected on the display built into the machine, so there are no paper pattern cards to make or replace.
How much power do the machines need?
The straw extruder needs 23.5 to 24.5 kW in total, the warping machine has a 4 kW main motor, each jacquard loom 1.5 to 2.25 kW, the heat cutter 6 kW of heating, and the sewing machine runs on 220 V. If you make your own warp yarn, the SJ-YS monofilament line has 75 to 100 kW installed. The full tables are on each machine page.
